Agadir to Marrakech: distance, bus, taxi and driving
250 km, one motorway, and four ways to do it. Here is what each really costs and how long it actually takes.
Quick answer: Agadir and Marrakech are about 250 km apart via the A7 motorway. Driving takes roughly 2h30 to 3h. The coach takes about 3h30 and costs 130-200 MAD (roughly £10-16), with frequent departures all day on CTM and Supratours.
Your options at a glance
| Option | Time | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coach (CTM / Supratours) | ~3h30 | 130-200 MAD (~£10-16) | Best value. Comfortable, air-conditioned, frequent departures. |
| Driving (own or hire car) | 2h30-3h | Fuel + A7 motorway tolls | Flexibility, stopping on the way, families with luggage. |
| Grand taxi (shared) | ~3h | Fixed price per seat, agreed locally | Leaves when full. Faster than the coach, less comfortable. |
| Private transfer | ~3h | Quoted per vehicle | Door to door, no changes. The expensive, easy option. |
By coach: the option most people take
Two operators dominate this route: CTM and Supratours. Both run modern air-conditioned coaches on the A7 with departures spread through the day, so you rarely need to plan far ahead. Expect around 3h30 door to door including the stops, and a fare in the 130-200 MAD range depending on the operator and how early you book.
Supratours is run by the national rail company and its coaches connect with the train network — useful if Marrakech is a staging post to Casablanca or Tangier rather than your final stop.
By car: the fastest, and the prettiest
The A7 motorway makes this an easy drive: roughly 250 km of good road, tolls, and about 2h30 to 3h depending on traffic and how heavy your foot is. The route climbs out of the Souss valley through argan country before dropping onto the Marrakech plain.
Renting a car makes real sense if you plan to stop along the way, or if you want Marrakech and the Atlas in the same trip.
Which should you choose?
🚌 Take the coach if…
You are going to Marrakech and back, you want the cheapest comfortable option, and you do not want to deal with Moroccan city driving or parking.
🚗 Drive if…
You are a family or group, you have luggage, or Marrakech is one stop on a bigger loop. The cost per person drops fast once there are three or four of you.
